The Plantation Eagles U18 Girls traveled to Frisco, TX during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend to compete in the prestigious Texas Cup Showcase. The Texas Cup is ranked in the top 10 of college showcase tournaments and was attended by coaches from over 100 schools. The tournament was hosted at Pizza Hut Parkm which is home of the FC Dallas MLS soccer club and is one of the top soccer facilities in the country.
The Eagles competed in the top flight (U19 Super Division) against highly ranked competition and performed extremely well with 2 wins and 1 tie in bracket play. The Eagles won their bracket and advanced to the quarter-finals. Playing without two players that were injured in the final game of bracket play, the Eagles eventually lost to FC Dallas 89 in an exciting 2-1 double overtime match.
The Eagles fine play throughout the tournament earned the players the attention of many of the college coaches that were in attendance. The Eagles games were attended by over 85 college coaches, with many attending multiple games. Many of the Eagles players were contacted by college coaches immediately following the tournament.
The players on the Eagles U18 team have been recruited by a wide variety of schools. Five of the Eagles players have made college commitments (3-D1, 1-D2, 1-D3), while seven others have outstanding offers to play soccer at various universities. The Plantation Eagles Soccer Club has demonstrated a strong commitment to insuring that players receive the proper development, guidance and college exposure, which has insured that the current U18 team will be one of the most successfully recruited teams in the history of the club. Future Eagles team will benefit from the processes and procedures that have been put in place to insure maximum exposure for all players that wish to play at the college level.
