U16 Girls Win Melbourne Area Labor Day Challenge

The Plantation Eagles U16 girls were triumphant in their first tournament of the 2006/07

Season taking First place honors at the Melbourne Area Labor Day Challenge. 

The Eagles opened the tournament against the Manatee Magic and rode a second half goal from Jasmine Aleman to a 1-0 victory. In their second match of the day, the Eagles played to a hard fought 0-0 draw against the East Pasco Burn with Goalkeepers, Brittany Hoeve and Wislyne Jean-Pierre combining for the shutout behind a very stingy defense

Led by Taylor Thomas, Shaina Bonadio, Catalina Quintana, Shante Chevannes, Michelle Devore Cassie Santangelo and Katie Spicer. 

In their third and final group match, the Eagles offense came alive thanks to 2 goals by Brooke McMann and 1 goal by Aleman leading the Eagles to a 3-0 win. 

The victory lifted the Eagles into a semi-final matchup against the Delray Beach Rage, the Eagles took control of the match early with a 10th minute goal by Kylee Palpal-Latoc.

The Eagles quickly followed with 2 more goals, which were scored by McMann and Aleman to take a commanding 3-0 lead. After allowing their first goal of the tournament late in the second half, the Eagles moved into the championship match with a 3-1 decision. 

In the final match, the Eagles were able to avenge their only blemish of the tournament defeating the East Pasco Burn off a 70th minute goal by Quintana and a late score by Spicer to give the Eagles their first taste of victory this season. 

Other members of the Eagles are Alecia Cerami, Julie Donmez, Kailey Joss, Nikolle Lambrinos, Dana Warman and Kasey Zacharias. The Eagles are coached by Billy Ramos and Mitch Weinstein
