U14 Girls: Miami Super Cup - "Champions"
Plantation Eagles U14 girls earned the championship spot at the Miami Super Cup - Labor Day tournament. They went 3-1 against some tough competition to win the title.
Games commenced on Saturday 9/4 against Pinecrest Premier. The game was tied until Taylor Malone (#32) put a free kick into the upper left corner. Game ended 1-0.
The second game was on Sunday against Miami Lakes. There were three Eagles goals (Rudi Bard#4 (1) and McKenzie Malone #33 (2)) and one goal by Lakes, as the game ended 3-1.
The third opponent was the toughest of all - Royal Palm Beach Strikers. The Eagles have played this team many times and not always successfully and this night was to be one of those times. Two goals were scored - one a penalty kick to end this game 0-2. However with the 2-1 record, the girls were able to move on to the finals.
The girls met the Strikers again in the finals - hoping to come out on the winning side this time. The Strikers took an early lead with a goal in the first half. The game remained 0-1, and then Jacqui Koebel (#23) took a great turn with the ball - just inside the 18 and put the ball in the back of the net. With a tie at the end, this meant direct to PK’s for an exhausted Eagle team. But, in the end, the Eagles prevailed with and awesome save from the keeper Anicia Snell (#2) and goals from Anicia Snell (#2), Jacqui Koebel (#23), McKenzie Malone (#33), and Rudi Bard (#4).
