U9 Girls Win the 2006 Weston Presidents Day Tournament
After struggling through the regular season, the U9 girls, lead by Coach Don Cooper, pulled out some tough games, to take home the Championship!!
The first game on Saturday against Cooper City Cobras proved to be an extremely tough one. The Eagles were down 4-1 in the second half when they were able to shoot the ball in the goal three times to tie it up. The game ended as a 4-4 tie.
The second game on Saturday against the West Pines Cheetahs was another nail biter with the Eagles pulling out a 4-3 win.
The third game, played on Sunday was against Westons own. This was a fierce game and both teams played very competitively. Eagles were behind 3-2 in the second half when the team worked together to get the ball down the field and into the goal. The game ended as a 3-3 tie.
The Championship game was played on Monday at 12:30 against the Cooper City Cobras. This proved to be the toughest game of the tournament. Both teams played very aggressively with crosses and passes. With about 15 minutes left in the game, McKenzie Malone received an excellent assisted pass from her sister Taylor Malone and shot it past the goal keeper. The Eagles were able to defend their goal the remainder of the half and won the Championship game 1-0.
The team consisted of players, Gaby Baglieri, Rachel Banach, Andrea Casanova, Remy Cook, Taylor Grantham, Kortney Hinden, Kaitlyn Krampel, McKenzie Malone, Taylor Malone, Mary McCormick, and Paige Vega.
